Angel slipped her jacket back on just before church service ended. Devlin helped, hugging her tenderlly about the shoulders. She smiled absentmindedly, knowing she needed to get to Pastor James Conman quickly before he left the premises. He never stayed long after service at the New Way Church of Belivers lately. He had to jet across town to preach at Old Zion, his brother Jeffery Conman's church. Pastor Jeff was away from his post for 'personal' reasons, and James stepped in for him. When they reached Devlin's Audi in the parking lot, Angel once again excused herself and went to find Pastor James. She was desprerate to get some help with Honeybaby.
Janette 'Honeybaby' Mackie was a wild 17 year old living with Angel. Angel was only 24 herself, and looking after Janette was wearing on her nerves. Their 'soul ties' from the past was what made her feel she was obliged to look out for Honeybaby, especially with what happened to little Kate those years ago.The sleek burnt sienna Jaguar almost hit Angel, as Pastor James backed out of his parking spot. 'Schreeeech!' " Oh my goodness Sister Angel! I didn't see you there. Are you alright baby?" Pastor asked, stomping his brake. He turned off the ignition, his heart raced but he was grateful for narrowly avoiding a potential lawsuit. " I'm fine Pastor, just fine." She responded still trembling.
Something stirred inside Pastor Conman, as he noticed through his rear view mirror, the lovely Angel standing there shaken and trembling. He eased out of the driver’s side door with extended arms welcoming her into his embrace. She just stood there, taking in slow deep breaths, desperately trying to regain her composure. Pastor James was quick to her side, holding her and whispering ever so softly in her ear, " It’s okay Angel baby, Pastor James is here. It's alright. I've got you. I've got you." His embrace tightend as her breath steadied, and his lips brushed her cheek. Angel stiffened, politely pulling away from him, saying "I'm fine Pastor really. I should have paid better attention to my surroundings."
"I wanted to talk with you about Janette." Angel sighed with an anguished plea. "She's becoming more distant and difficult to deal with." "Hmph, Honeybaby's acting up again huh?" Pastor Conman asked. "I know you girls have a history Angel, but are you sure you want to continue on with this burden? I mean you aren't much older than she is, and yet you care for her like she's your own child." he said. " I don't want you burning yourself out, trying to solve someone elses problems, before getting your own straight." He softened his tone then, "I don't intend to seem so harsh about it" he cooed, easing his arm around her again, " It's time for tough love now baby." Angels shoulders drooped sadly. She knew he was right, but the thought of not being there for Honeybaby was still painful.
Looking up into Pastor Conman's eyes, Angel asked "What do you recommend Pastor?" " I'll help you Angel. Give me a few days to make a couple of calls, and we'll see what we can do." he replied pulling her close again. "Thank you Pastor. Whatever needs to be done to help Honeybaby, 'Any thing,' I'm willing to do." she said stepping away. James smiled to himself. He definately liked the sound of that. "Anything" was one of his favorite things to hear a woman say; Especially one as fine as Angel. Looking at his watch he blurted " Oh my goodness look at the time. I've got to get out of here, or those saints at Old Zion are gonna have my hide!' he said laughing. "I'm so sorry for keeping you Pastor." Angel said appologetically. "It's cool, I'll stop by to see you soon about Janette, Angel." he said getting into his car, turning the ignition. Angel stepped aside, waved goodbye, and headed back to Devlin. "I'll be waiting." she called over her shoulder.
Devlin sat in the car with a disgusted impatient look on his face Angel noted, as she approached him. She decided to turn on the charm, she eased into the car with a sly sexy smile saying " Hey Dev, thank you for being such a patient sweetheart. I know that took longer than we expected. How can I make it up to you?" When he heard that, Devlin's face lit up and he drove off, thinking of the best way to try and get her to 'make it up to him!'

mad moment interlude
the skeleton of a marriage feasted on by the muscular jaws of a looming divorce.
it sucks to be at this point in time. we hate each other.
i just want him gone. he just wants me to kick around.
too afraid to leave too miserable to stay so we suffer.
i refuse to continue to suffer this way. i've got to get him out of here.
Lord please let him get out of here. the pain of his presence is soul stripping.
i told his behind to go eat hot nigga nuts and die.
oh Lord please forgive me for my wayward mouth.
i want to be better than that for you.

Thigh meet
Okay so I get on a too crowded bus, tired and praying for a seat. I had caught the bus to another area in my town to a park beside a lake to take a breezy walk. The walk was great and would usually energize me, but the sun was so hot, and I didn't have my hat or umbrella or shades. Needless to say my enthusiasm to get out of the house in a hurry was not well prepared. So by the time I'd done my two laps on the walking path around the lake, I was burnt inside and out. I had to wait a half an hour for the bus to come as well. When the bus finally arrived I barely had the strength to climb aboard, but if I hadn't, I would have passed out from heat stroke.
Anyway I get on the bus and find a seat, "Oh joy!" next to 'I really don't care by this time'; But when I sat down... our thighs met. Electricity! We both wore shorts, so it was flesh on flesh contact...um um um. He let out an "ooh" as the expanse of my hips settled in beside him on the seat. His muscular hairy thigh was cool against the heat of my own. He edged over a bit and asked " Are you comfortable?" I nodded my head yes, as I looked into eyes that sparkled like the lake water. This guy was so handsome, I had to catch my breath. "Um hm," I replied and asked "Are you?" "Oh I'm fine" he said, then smiled "just fine now!" I grinned then marvelled at his brilliant smile.
"I like your dimples," he said, " You have a million dollar smile, if I may say so" he blushed. I blushed too. "You may, and thank you for saying so." I responded trying to control my heart beat which had amped up it's rhythm by now. We sat there for a moment, just checking each other out. I flushed with embarassment and looked away. He pressed his thigh against me again, firm yet tender. More Electricity!
I looked up to the front of the bus and realized that my stop was next. I sighed with dread at the thought of leaving this handsome stranger. As I prepared to get up, I awkwardly blurted " My stop is next." looking at him with a sideways glance. "Aw man," he said, like a dissapointed child, "I have seven more stops to go." He leaned over and whispered in my ear, " Please Ma'm, forgive me if this seems forward, I mean no harm or disrespect; but Lady you have the softest skin, and it feels so good against mine." My eyes widened, as my emotions teetered between feeling a bit flattered and uncomfortable, from his straight forward admission. I didn't say anything. I pulled myself up, walked to the back of the bus waiting for the doors to open and set me free. As I stepped off the bus, I looked back over my shoulder, through the tinted bus windows, to where he sat. He looked at me and blew a kiss. I looked away. As I waited for my next bus to arrive, I pondered how your day can make a strange turn, when thighs meet.
